This bachelor thesis is a reliability analysis of offshore equipment designed and made by Nexans Norway AS. One of the critical points is the interface between platform and the submerged, buoyancy suspended cable. To prevent fatigue in the umbilical, the transition between rigid platform and flexible umbilical is protected by a bend stiffener assembly. Established problem solving methods and techniques as well as geometrical and mathematical analysis has been used to reveal any potential causes for reliability issues in this equipment.
