B.1.4 Please describe how student mobility is facilitated through the project.<\/strong> Mobility completed: Ongoing mobility Planned actions so far Further planned recruiting actions at OUC and BJTU: BJTU plans to recruit 2-3 students to attend a summer project stay at OUC, scheduling for August 1 \u2013 September 1. Similar work package will be assigned for inbound BJTU students. The work package includes a project assignment, weeks lab work, combined few local company visits.<\/p>\n Financial model: Added comments for student mobility so far:<\/p>\n The projecty coordinator intended to spend the same limited budget but creating extensive exchange actions, thus sending 3 Norwegian students to BJTU for their bachelor thesis, get BJTU transcripts and approved by our OUC system. Currently the project team works with administration both BJTU and OUC and this approval seems to be done almostly.<\/p>\n The project is planning by now recruiting 2-3 OUC students for 2-3 weeks stay at BJTU July 2018, a new attempt of summer school, and at the same time BJTU partner is recruiting 2-3 BJTU students to OUC in August month in project stay. The project team is working to land details by now.<\/p>\n If this plan succeed entirely and everything works well, the project will generate 2+2+3 students mobility for both sides for 2018.<\/p>\n It took sometimes and difficulties to start and speed up the student mobility actions in 2017. By then there was only one BJTU student mobilized to OUC for a week together with his BTJU professor. Similar, only one OUC student was visiting at BJTU in October for a month. He is actually the one whom substituted the one student whom planned to attend BJTU summer school but drop off at last minutes.<\/p>\n B.2.1 The goals of the project (from Project Document)<\/strong> The project also has a goal for increasing quality and internationalization of study programs at OUC and BJTU. The OUC has a long history and good competence of industrial collaboration. The BJTU is one of best universities in China for this engineering discipline with modern laboratories. \nProject practice identified three new risk elements so far:
\n-A longer student exchange stay challenges lecture scheduling and curriculum matching.
\nThe project encourages longer student stay, so an OUC student completed a month long BJTU stay. The challenge was finding a month opening, not only for this visit, but also for solutions for other OUC courses during the same period. A good coordination and planning for both sides are the must.
\n-Research and lecture topics are switching and changing due to different research focuses and practical circumstance of partners.
\nThe project initially conceptualized LNG (Liquid Nature Gas) phase transformation causing and resulting the temperature changes releasing or restoring energy. After discussion and meetings in details with BJTU colleagues, it appears to
\n-Joint curriculum developing is more demanding than what we expected
\nWe noticed curriculum is something relatively firmed and fixed within each academic and administrative systems for both side, and thereafter is hard to change or develop formally. The current solution is lectures in a join seminar where teachers and students benefited by the updated topics.<\/p>\n

\n3 OUC bachelor students submitted their applications and are planning to stay in BJTU 3 months fall 2018 for their bachelor thesis. These 3 students are very motivated and interested in coming to BJTU for their bachelor thesis project. The project coordinator is working for a detailed program, including, registering into BJTU grading system for their student project, and so approved by OUC after their mobility.<\/p>\n
\nOUC plans to recruit 2-3 students to attend a summer stay at BJTU, scheduling for July 1 \u2013 August 1 at BJTU. The stay is a work package includes a project assignment, weeks lab work, combined a company visit if available.<\/p>\n
\n1 BJTU PhD student visit OUC 5 days, fully financed by the project
\nOther mobility actions have longer stay, and they are partly or majorly financed by the project and partly by own contributions or other sources.<\/p>\nB.2 Project goals and expected results<\/h3>\n
\nThe project has a goal to strengthen continually connection between OUC Norway and BJTU China for research aspect in the collaboration between the partners. As the OUC and BJTU collaboration was successfully accomplished in 2014, the new targeted research topic introduced into this project.<\/p>\n
\nThe project also activity the alliance with an industrial partner: Borg Havn Port. The port is a logistic operation terminal for shipping goods but also has significantly competent in storage and handling of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), contributing information data and practical experiences in thermodynamic energy transferring relevant to this project.<\/p>\n
\nExpected results relevant to research purpose:
\nConceptualizing a realistic and sounded commercialized thermodynamics energy restoring solution and testing mini\/laboratory scale through the project period. Identifying and analyzing the feasibility thermodynamics energy restoring solution by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or other related solutions.<\/p>\n
\nConducting at least two or more academic seminars related and relevant within thermodynamics energy restoring solutions, but also can be extended for other energy management relevant issues. Conducting teacher exchanges for three or more teachers from each side whom contributing academic lectures to these planned seminars.<\/p>\n
\nAcquiring data information, experience and competence on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) operation handling. Aiming and further conceptualizing these into thermodynamics energy restoring applications.<\/p>\n

\nThe direct academic result was not the expected one. The new target topic is battery cooling systems which reflecting the best research focuses and outcomes at BJTU partner. The major relevance however is still focusing on alternative energy solutions, though in another aspect and approach than original planned.<\/p>\n
