AreaS member Wladimir Chávez won the National Literary Award Miguel Riofrío (Ecuador) for his novel El olor de las flores quemadas. According to the judges’ citation, “This novel’s narrative takes place over three days. Collected in flashbacks and alternating between memories, emails and reports, the narrator relives the Yugoslav Wars and remember a frustrated love for a young Bosnian refugee. This work maintains interest through a concise, accurate and sensitive writing style”. AreaS sincerely congratulate Wladimir on his hard-earned success!
